But I work out with the latest fancy equipment in a NY hotel about every other week and I find la fitness equipment fine by comparison. If I lived near Equinox I might join, that’s where many of my friends and acquaintances go. I live in the hills 6 min above LA Fitness and that is a huge factor. A very nice variety of people where I think most would feel comfortable. I like the employees and other people who are working out. I really like it, usually go twice a day when I’m in town. I go to LA Fitness Hastings Pasadena, started six months ago. Btw, if you have an AMEX Platinum card, you should be able to get $300 off at Equinox each year If I were partial to one gym location, and could justify the cost, I’d try out Equinox. A Burberry polo will not have 2-3x better quality than a J Crew polo. It’s a diminishing return and luxury comes at a price. I also wouldn’t use the argument, it needs to be 10x better for 10x the cost. I’m usually not outside of that geographic triangle. I can only speak for the LA area from Santa Clarita to West LA and Glendale. I wouldn’t shower at any LAF location I have visited without sandals.
In the morning, there is usually pretty open availability and there is access to all locations. I go to LAF but I never visit during peak hours (anytime after 4PM-9PM). I do know the base membership is for one location and it costs much more to get access to other locations. I cant justify the cost for the limited amount of times I go the gym a year, therefore, I cannot speak for it. Although I fit the financial demographic for someone who should be going to Equinox, I don’t. I agree with that statement but everyone who can afford Equinox, can afford LAF, but not everyone who can afford LAF can afford Equinox. What really pisses me off though is when I’m out of town and go work out at other LA Fitness locations that are well maintained and way better than the equinox I’m paying 10x for 😒 But I can afford both with no issue so it works for me. So is it worth the price? Not really tbh because it’s not 10x better than LA Fitness imo. I pay like $25 for LA fitness and can go to any location in the US. It’s like way smaller and has way less equipment than the LA fitness nearby, but it’s not as crowded, it’s clean (and smells good) and up-to-date equipment. The equinox I work out at is the one here in Culver City. However that place is now an overcrowded dump with mold issues and broken down out-of-date equipment.Īfter years of frustration with this LA fitness location (and the others near me) I finally took the plunge and joined equinox. They did a renovation when it changed names and the place was in great shape for a couple of years. It was a Bally’s like 10 years ago and then turned into an LA fitness. The LA fitness that I mostly frequent is the one here in Culver City. I have memberships to both, been an LA fitness member since 2009 and recently joined Equinox last year.
